Covid - 19 Action Plan

Be Proactive

  • New hours of operation will be 7:00am-5:00pm. Closing early will allow staff to deep clean each night. Administration will be inspecting classrooms nightly to ensure efficient cleaning.
  • Students and staff will practice good hand hygiene by washing hands with soap and water.
  • Hand washing instructions will continue to be posted near the handwashing stations.
  • Students and staff will wash hands upon arrival to the center, after coming inside from being outside, after breaks, and when moving from one group to another.
  • Students and staff will wash hands before and after preparing food and beverages and giving medications.
  • Students and staff will wash hands after using the toilet, body fluids, playing outdoors, and after handling garbage.
  • Only covered garbage cans will be used and sanitized daily. Garbage will be removed and discarded after meals and at the end of the day. Signage will be posted above the garbage cans on proper waste disposal techniques.
  • If a staff member becomes ill, they must contact the director. The director, along with the staff member, will plan for a substitute to ensure the continuation of service. If the director becomes ill, the assistant director will be the appointed person in charge.

Avoid Exposure

  • Only the office will receive outside deliveries.
  • Student arrivals and departures will be made through the Gym only. All student sign in and out will be handled in the gym. Staff will escort children to their assigned classrooms.
  • All persons will have a temperature check before entering the preschool classroom area upon arrival. This will continue until further notice.
  • Staff members will complete a daily health check with children upon arrival in the gym.
  • Any child who exhibits signs of illness or who has had any form of contagious illness, including but not limited to fever, vomiting, and diarrhea within the past 24 hrs., will not be permitted to attend school. In some cases, a medical release from your doctor may be required for re-admittance.
  • If a child or staff member has been identified with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) school and program administrators should seek guidance from local health officials to determine when students and staff should return to school and what additional steps are needed for the school community. In addition, students and staff who are well but are taking care of or share a home with someone with a case of (SARS-CoV-2) should follow instructions from local health officials to determine when to return to school.
  • Potential visitors to the center will be notified via routine communication (in person, over the phone, e-mail) that symptomatic persons will not be able to enter the program facility. Visitors will be screened upon arrival if they have had potential exposure to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) have recently traveled from an affected geographic area, or appear to be experiencing fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
  • All group gatherings and other events will be cancelled until further notice.
  • Ratios will adjust to be compliant with San Joaquin County Health Department guidelines as well as State Licensing requirements.
  • Zion Childcare will exercise our right to refuse entry to any individual or send home children.

Sanitize

  • Infection control supplies will be in stock for children, staff and visitors to the facility
  • Washing bedding every night.
  • Only disposable towels will be used for cleanup/wipe down.
  • If it is determined that persons infected with or suspected to be infected with the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)/COID-19 have been in the facility the following is recommended:
    • Close off areas used by the ill persons and wait as long as practical before beginning cleaning and disinfection to minimize potential for exposure to respiratory droplets. Open outside doors and windows to increase air circulation in the area. If possible, wait up to 24 hours before beginning cleaning and disinfection.
    • Cleaning staff should clean and disinfect all areas (offices, bathrooms, and common areas) used by the ill persons, focusing especially on frequently touched surfaces.

Monitor and Plan for Absenteeism

  • The director and program coordinator will review unusual absentee patterns among both students and staff. Large spikes in absenteeism will be reported to San Joaquin County Health Department for their review and guidance.
  • Staff members who are exposed to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), have symptoms of COVID-19, or have confirmed infection of COVID-19 will be mandated to take leave. Such instances will be reported to the local health authority.
  • If staff absences increase, some preschool classes may be adjusted to ensure that Community Care Licensing ratios are met.
  • Daily counts of children and the ability to meet staffing ratios will be conducted by the director.

Communicate

  • Employees will be provided information on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) COVID-19 and preventative measures by providing them with resources from the CDC.
  • In person, phone and Tadpoles App communication will be used to disperse information.
  • Families will be provided with a copy of this action plan prior to the reopening of the childcare center.

Partner

  • The preschool will partner with the San Joaquin County Health Department and Community Care Licensing for guidance on closing for COVID-19 related reason.
  • Any closing will be in partnership with the Health Department, and not a decision made by the Zion Administration alone.

I the parent or legal guardian of ________________________________________________ hereby acknowledge that I have received and reviewed the Zion Childcare Center COVID-19 Action Plan. This plan will be in place until further notification has been granted from the San Joaquin Department of Health, State of California, Community Care Licensing, and the Administration of Zion Childcare Center.

 

Zion Childcare Center is a public space and like any public space, some risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus exists. Zion Childcare Center is adhering to the modified regulations presented in the COVID Action Plan.
